New Wage Subsidy for Employing Apprentices & Trainees

Earlier this month, the Federal Government announced the Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements wage subsidy. It is a $1.2 billion initiative for businesses to employ 100,000 new apprentices and trainees across the country. It is anticipated that the 100,000 places will be taken up fairly quickly – so now is the time to get in touch with us!

What you need to know

  • Any businesses or Group Training Organisations that engageÌý²¹²ÔÌýAustralian apprentice or trainee on or afterÌý°¿³¦³Ù´Ç²ú±ð°ùÌý5,Ìý2020 may be eligible for a subsidy of 50 per cent of wages paid to an apprentice betweenÌýOctober 5,Ìý2020 and SeptemberÌý30Ìý2021, to a maximum of $7,000 per quarter.
  • Employers of any size or industry, Australia-wide may be eligible.Ìý
  • The apprentice or trainee who is employed betweenÌýOctober 5,Ìý2020 and SeptemberÌý30Ìý2021 must be undertaking a Certificate II or higher qualification and the training contract must be approved the relevant state training authority.
  • The program is capped at 100,000 apprentices/trainees.Ìý
