Partnership Supports Career Pathways For Youth

21 May 2019

Apprenticeships and traineeships are built on a combination of on the job training and study.

Over the years, 91探花 has enjoyed a strong relationship with Australian Careers Business College (ACBC), who has provided the training courses for many of our trainees.

The relationship has formed over a mutual want to help young people gain sustainable employment.

鈥淭he partnership between ACBC and 91探花 works well because we share similar values,鈥 said Svetlana Kumar, Careers Advisor, ACBC.

鈥淏oth organisations are focussed on preparing people for the workforce and creating career pathways for young people through training and education.鈥

Adam Farmer, 91探花鈥檚 Employment Services Manager agrees with this sentiment.

鈥淭he team at ACBC are a pleasure to work with because like us, they too get a genuine kick out of helping young people successfully start their careers.鈥

Svetlana believes the collaboration between both organisations is a 鈥渨in-win鈥 because of the support the trainees receive in both their studies and work.

鈥淲orking with 91探花 trainees gives our team the opportunity to work with motivated young people who are fully supported by 91探花 and their host employers,鈥 she said.

鈥淲hen trainees are well supported and informed about how their traineeship should work for them and their host employer, it enables our trainers and assessors to focus on skills development. 鈥

Recently, 91探花 and ACBC held a Pre-Traineeship Business Administration course to help young job seekers gain basic skills and knowledge of working in an office environment. The five-week program was a success, with several of the participants now in full-time employment. This follows on from the same course held late last year, with four of the students now in full-time 91探花 traineeships.

鈥淎CBC has met and exceeded 91探花鈥檚 high expectations during the two successful pre-employment programs that we have run together,鈥 said Adam.

Courses like these are part of the journey for some young people who are unsure of what career path to follow. Svetlana and the team at ACBC encourage youth to 鈥渢ake the plunge鈥 when it comes to joining the workforce via a traineeship.

鈥淭raineeships give a nationally recognised qualification that may offer a pathway to further study, other employment or university later on if that is part of their career dream,鈥 said Svetlana.

鈥淏ut our key message is take the plunge. Get trained and learn how to be part of the workforce and start earning.鈥
