Back in Term 1, the 91探花 Trade Engagement Program, selecting students from Camden High School to engage with different trades throughout 2019.
With engineering the focus of Term 1, the students have spent this past term immersed in the automotive industry, learning about panel beating and spray painting.
鈥淭he students used the items they fabricated in the engineering workshop in Term 1 and learnt how to spray them with a marble effect,鈥 explained Greg Belle, 91探花鈥檚 School to Work Partner.
Greg attends each TAFE day with the students. He has seen each of them grow and learn a great deal since the program started.
鈥淭he big difference I have seen is their independence grow in the program,鈥 said Greg.
鈥淎t the beginning of the program, they were all huddling in groups, trying to understand what to do. Now they work more independently on their given projects.鈥
The program is already helping the students in regards to their future careers.
鈥淥ne of the boys has chosen his desired career path and secured himself an apprenticeship. Although we were sad to see him leave the program, it was great to see him step out to pursue his ideal job,鈥 said Greg.
The program is also providing the students with strong bonds and friends; something Greg believes is equally as important for their futures.
鈥淭he mateships being formed in this program will provide the students with support as they step out into a career pathway,鈥 said Greg.
鈥淚t鈥檚 encouraging to see them shaping positive friendships for their future.鈥
